American Publishing Company, Hartford, CT 1880 First Edition / First Printing / First Issue Original cloth binding with gold gilt illustration at the front board and gilt lettering at the spine. Has all first issue points. Frontispiece has the caption "Moses" which was later changed to "Titian's Moses". Binding A, sheets bulk to 1 5/8". Rare. {ref: BAL 3386}. Book Condition: Good+, original cloth binding with gilt illustration at the front board, book is tight and square, shelf wear at the edges, portrait frontispiece of Mark Twain, tissue guard and "Moses" frontispiece present, illustrated throughout, minor hinge repair at the front endpaper, dampstain at the head and fore-edge of the first one hundred pages, stains worst at the first few pages, darkening, previous owner's inscription in pencil at the front endpaper.
